A South African story of hope: Meet Celukhanyo Maphoyi

Author: Village of Hope, South frica
13 August 2013

Meet Celukhanyo Maphoyi. Celukhanyo is 3 years old and lives with his Grandmother in an informal settlement in Grabouw, near Cape Town, South Africa.

Our Village of Hope project cared for Celukhanyo so that his Grandmother could receive life-saving treatment for TB and regain her health. Without this temporary care, Celukhanyo would have had nowhere else to go and he would probably have lost his only carer.

Village of Hope restores hope by offering a temporary place of safety to children infected or affected by HIV, AIDS or TB. We also deliver a weekly sports programme that teaches health and life skills to over 200 children within the Grabouw community and surrounding farms as well as offering a weekly support group for HIV+ adolescents.
