Having lived with HIV for 12 years, mother Amanda Esterhuizen from the Free State, does not resemble our society's image of someone with HIV. As a mother and wife in a conservative community, Amanda struggled with her demons through an abusive childhood to the shock of discovering she had contracted the virus. She talks about how, with the love and support of her children and husband, she learned to live positively with HIV.

As twins go, you would struggle to find a more unlikely pair. One focuses on end-of-life care for mostly elderly patients, in the richest country in the world. The other is a hospice in the poorest province in South Africa, primarily dealing with HIV/Aids and the grinding destitution of children and young people, among its many challenges.
