This course is for those who have a grounding in mindfulness/yoga, other body-mind approaches and compassion-focused psychologies and practices. We will be looking in more detail at emerging evidence from the fields of neuroscience, polyvagal theory and compassion-focused psychology and the relevance of this evidence to our work in supportive and palliative care. We will discuss “total pain”, breathlessness and the bi-directional effect of emotions on symptoms and why it is clinically important to understand and work with the interdependence of body-mind and spirit.
