Broadening the LGBT+ health agenda: research and practice in serious and advanced illness, and bereavement support

Last year the Government Equalities Office published results from their National LGBT Survey, demonstrating that many people are still facing negative experiences in health care due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Cicely Saunders Institute is hosting the ACCESSCare Conference, which will contribute to a climate of advancing knowledge and improving care for LGBT+ people facing serious or advanced illness, and bereavement.

Researchers, health and social care professionals, policy makers, and community representatives are invited to join a multidisciplinary team of engaged experts at this 1-day conference, led by the ACCESSCare team at King’s College London. We are delighted that Dr Michael Brady, the new National Adviser for LGBT Health in the NHS, and Paul Roberts OBE, Chief Executive of the LGBT Consortium will be speaking and sharing their experiences of the LGBT+ health agenda. The day will also include presentations from ACCESSCare researchers, reflections from PPI members, and discussions about the future. Attendees are encouraged to submit a poster to share any relevant work during our lunchtime poster session. There will be an opportunity for networking over refreshments at the end of the day.
