This masterclass considers practical advice for renal teams and palliative medicine teams who care for patients with end stage renal failure and severe chronic kidney disease. A practical and evidence-based approach to symptom control and maximising quality of life will be presented along with consideration of the ethics of decision-making around dialysis provision and withdrawal. Finally, the course will explore the challenges and benefits of running joint renal and palliative medicine clinics based on delivery of services in Oxford, Scotland and Sydney Australia.
It is appropriate for Renal clinicians and Palliative care clinicians with an interest in supportive and palliative care for patients with severe and end-stage kidney disease.
