Sinai Health System, with its vision of building an exemplar of a health system for the future, bringing together acute, rehabilitative, and complex care, with a focus on innovation, is delighted to be recruiting a Division Director for its clinical and academic program in Palliative Care. The successful candidate will be the inaugural leader of the newly formed Sinai Health System Inter-Departmental Division of Palliative Care. Applicants must hold MD and specialty qualification, be further qualified in Palliative Care and have, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. The applicant should be eligible for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. Effective start date is June 2016, or as mutually agreeable upon.
This leader will drive the creation of a new academic structure for Palliative Care in Toronto: an innovative, collaborative and comprehensive Inter-Departmental Division of Palliative Care. This will include recruiting additional like-minded academic clinicians, and establishing a clinical and academic program in palliative care with a focus on novel, integrated models of care, particularly for complex patients. Responsibilities will include creating excellence in clinical care and scholarship in education and research. Clinical, educational and research activities will span Sinai Health System, including the Bridgepoint Site and its 32 bed palliative care unit, the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care with its large ambulatory and community based program and its consultative palliative program at Mount Sinai Hospital, and Circle of Care with its community based hospice program.
As an interdepartmental division, the members and Division Director will be full-time academic physicians in any of the major Departments with active palliative care specialists and programs. The Division Director will be selected based on skills, and not any specific Departmental affiliation. The Division, and its Director, will report to the Chief of Family Medicine for Sinai Health System and to the Head of the Division of Palliative Care for the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $250,000 to $350,000 based in part on fee for service billings and will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
