Plucky 80-year-old prepares for cycle challenge in Africa to help those in need

Methlick, Aberdeenshire , Scotland, Saturday, 1 June  2019 
 
Evelyn Cook (pictured) is appealing for people to join in on her bike ride in Methlick, either 12.5 or 25 miles. The event is to raise funds for Evelyn's trip to Zambia, where she will take part in another bike ride to raise funds for the cancer disease hospital in Lusaka as part of her volunteer work with the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society.

A plucky pensioner is calling on cyclists to help her raise cash for a gruelling charity bike ride on the other side of the world. Evelyn Cook, from Methlick, is travelling to Zambia later this year to raise funds for palliative care in the cancer ward in the nation’s capital of Lusaka, on behalf of the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society (EMMS).
