The donation comes as part of Microsoft’s wider ‘Microsoft Citizenship’ programme, which aims to provide tools, training and resources to organisations. APCA qualified to receive this donation which is aimed at helping ‘transform communities’.
As a pan African advocacy organisation making the needs of patients known to policy makers and educators, the donation will enable APCA to increase its outreach efforts to provide platforms for making palliative care education available at all levels for health care providers across Africa.
The Executive Director of APCA, Dr Emmanuel Luyirika, commented on the donation saying, “This donation is a huge boost not only to APCA but also to all the service providers, patients and their families that APCA works so hard to support.”
He continued, “Microsoft has not only offered us this considerable donation of software but also other resources such as online tools and training as part of a wider partnership. I look forward to working with them in the future.”
