Uganda highlighted in Al Jazeera series on access to morphine

Categories: In The Media.

Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb last week reported from Luwero district of Uganda to highlight the disparity between the demand and supply of morphine in Uganda.

The report highlighted that, despite Uganda being a regional leader in morphine preparation and distribution, only about 10% of those who need morphine in Uganda have access to it.

Speaking live to Al Jazeera, the Executive Director of the African Palliative Care Association, Dr Emmanuel Luyirika, commented that, “everyone should have access to medical morphine…”.
