Bayshore HealthCare, Canada’s largest provider of community health care services, is entering into a partnership with Pallium Canada to expand the capacity to educate healthcare professionals in palliative care. The partnership will allow Bayshore to provide standardized education and expertise in hospice palliative in Canada. Graduates will be qualified to educate other professionals across the country as Pallium-certified Bayshore LEAP facilitators
“Our partnership with Pallium is part of our ongoing investment in ensuring healthcare professionals across Canadahave the skills and experience needed to deliver optimal home-based care,” says Holly Quinn, Director of Clinical Programs at Bayshore HealthCare. “Bayshore is committed to providing the best possible services and support to our clients, and that includes palliative and end-of-life care.”
Pallium will educate 20 Bayshore clinicians who, once they have completed their courses, will be master facilitators qualified to teach Pallium’s Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative and End-of-Life Care (LEAP). The LEAP program is Mainpro-C accredited by the College of Family Physicians Canada.
“With the number of aging Canadians continuing to increase, the healthcare system must continue to invest in education to ensure people nearing the end of their lives have the best possible support,” says Dr. Kathryn Downer, National Director of Pallium Canada. “Our partnership with Bayshore is a great example of working together to achieve this goal.”
