- The next International Dignity Therapy Workshop will be held in Winnipeg, Canada, May 22nd-24th, 2013. WE NEED YOUR HELP in getting the word out about this event! For those of you who have attended previous workshops, you know what a unique experience this is. You also know that we can only accommodate a limited number of attendees. We would like you to help us ‘hand pick’ people you think would be interested in being trained in Dignity Therapy, and who are in a position to move this work into their clinical practice with patients facing life threatening and life limiting conditions.
- Please direct possible attendees to http://workshops.dignityincare.ca, where they will find complete registration information about the May 2013 training opportunity. Again, spots are limited, and applicants will be chosen based on when we receive their application, AND most importantly, their potential to use Dignity Therapy in their clinical practice.
- Dignity Therapy is continuing to take hold in various countries around the world. We are doing our best to support this uptake, and continue to offer brief, intense training workshops. Our most recent workshop was held at the San Diego Hospice in San Diego, California, and attracted attendees from across North America, Western Europe and as far away as the Middle East.
- On January 22nd, the journal, Cancer, published our latest article entitled “Health Care Provider Communication: An Empirical Model of Therapeutic Effectiveness”. This paper provides ‘an anatomy’ of effective therapeutic communication between patients and healthcare providers. Please visit http://dignityincare.ca for additional information and free access to the full article.
Greetings from all of us at the Manitoba Palliative Care Research Unit in Winnipeg, Canada!
