The Department of Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre located in the wonderful harbour city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking a full-time physician at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. The successful candidate would be welcomed as a physician colleague to the Division of Pediatric Palliative Medicine/ the Pediatric Advanced Care Team, which currently includes a Pediatrician, Anesthesiologist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Bereavement Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, and Volunteers. The successful candidate will have a complimentary role as a general pediatrician, focusing on the care of children with medical complexity, with a mix of ambulatory and inpatient service on the Pediatric Medical Unit. The position would be equally divided between palliative and complex care, paralleling the position of the other PACT pediatrician.
Responsibilities include the provision of pain and symptom management of patients at IWK, as well as supporting clinicians who care for children (both inpatient and outpatient) throughout the Maritime Provinces. Demonstrated interest in clinical research relevant to pediatric palliative/complex care is an asset. Teaching opportunities abound within Dalhousie University, the IWK Health Centre, and more broadly throughout the urban and rural communities where care is collaboratively shared. Experience in medical education is an asset.
Academic qualifications include a MD degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university with completed recognized specialty training and certification in Pediatrics. In addition, we are seeking a physician with meaningful training/experience relevant to Pediatric Palliative Medicine, preferably BC/BE, and/or to pediatric neurodevelopmental disabilities/complex care. Eligibility for medical licensure in the Province of Nova Scotia is essential. Compensation and academic appointment is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
