The hospice offers one on one support, bereavement programs, grief support groups and specific support groups for those who have lost a loved one by suicide and for those who have lost an infant within the first year of life. Another unique program offered by the Chilliwack Hospice Society is their Horse Whisperer Grief Camp. The program gives grieving youth the opportunity to feel the love and support often associated with working with horses. While there are already horse camps for children in Canada, a camp with horses to specifically address the topic of grief is a first. Additionally for children, there is a Children’s Grief support group, which has a ritual of allowing children to release doves in memory of their loved one at its conclusion.
