Although Hospice Yukon does not have its own facility with beds or nurses, the programs and services they offer are very valuable for people, and their families, approaching their last days of life. Hospice Yukon offers services such as counselling, energy therapy, grief groups and vigil support. The Hospice also offers educational materials on loss and grief, loss in the workplace, supporting others and self care. During the Christmas Season, Hospice Yukon organizes ‘Lights of Life’, an event that allows individuals to honour the lives of lost loved ones during the holidays by hanging remembrance tags on Lights of Life trees. One testimonial shares that the atmosphere, company of volunteers and stories shared at the Lights of Life ceremony was just what she needed and a gift to many in the community.
