Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Ottawa

Categories: Uncategorized.

The Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice is set to open in 2016 and will double the number of residential hospice beds in Ottawa. The $1 million donation from John Ruddy, president and chief executive officer of Trinity Development Group Inc., and William Shenkman, chairman of the Shenkman Group of Companies, places Hospice Care Ottawa at half of the $6 million that it needs to open in 2016.

Hospice Care Ottawa hopes to continue to improve access to hospice palliative and end-of-life services in Ottawa. They plan to build an additional two residential hospices in the coming years, which could add as many as 20 more beds.

Currently in Ottawa there are two residential hospices, Roger’s House a pediatric hospice, and Hospice at Maycourt. The proposed site of the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice is Terry Fox Drive and Maple Grove Road in Kanata.
