“In cancer care, they talk about adding days; we talk about adding years” says Dr Mary Ann Muckaden, one of the doyness of the palliative care movement in India, while talking about those patients who need neurological, nephrological or respiratory palliative care.

Dr Muckaden is currently the Medical Lead at Sukoon Nilaya, Palliative Care Centre for Non Cancer Conditions; and a Consultant at the Mumbai Children’s Palliative Care Centres, and at the Shanthi Avedna Sadan, a hospice for Cancer Patients. She is also a Professor and Former HoD, Dept. of Palliative Medicine, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.
Dr Muckaden is a Former Chairperson of the International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN); and the Former President of the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC).
