India– WHO Collaborating Centre launches fellowship programme for palliative care workers

The one year advanced course aims to generate a group of palliative care workers with an in depth knowledge of core issues in palliative care and who are well versed with the recent advances in palliative care and community participation regionally, nationally and globally.

The first cohort of the course will start in May 2013 in Kerala.

The distance education course will be spread over an year. It will take the form of assignments, discussions and five two-day contact sessions at the Institute of Palliative Medicine, Calicut.

Community volunteers, doctors and nurses with a minimum of one year experience in palliative care can apply. There are 30 places available in each cohort.

Last date for applications: 30 April 2013

List of selected candidates published: 12 May 2013

Last date for payment of course fee after selection: 20 May 2013

Course starts on 25 May 2013 with the first contact session on 25 & 26 May 2013
