Children’s Palliative Care Best Practice Guidelines for Managing Pain
- Children’s Palliative Care Experts Needed
Following on from the release of the WHO Guidelines on the management of chronic pain in children, launched on the 1st February 2021, the International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN) will work with the WHO, its members, experts in managing pain within and the context of children’s palliative care and other stakeholders, to develop some resources specifically for use in children’s palliative care. These will utilise the overarching framework of the guidelines and will include implementation guidance/ best practice guidelines with clinical recommendations. This is particularly important for low and middle-income countries (LMIC) and countries relatively new to children’s palliative care, and will utilise medications found in the WHO essential medicines list for children. Alongside this, there will be a series of educational materials to support our colleagues managing pain within children’s palliative care.
In order to develop these resources, ICPCN will be setting up a working group. Individuals are invited to express an interest in being part of this working group by completing this form and attaching a copy of your CV.
Applications will be reviewed, and individuals selected based on geographical representation, representation from LMICs and high-income countries (HICs), a variety of cadres, and experience and knowledge in the field of pain assessment and management in children’s palliative care.
