We are pleased to announce the launch of ehospice América Latina – the first edition to cover Latin America and to be published in Spanish and Portuguese.
The new edition was launched on April 2 and will help connect people working in palliative and end of life care in the region by offering a central platform where they can access the latest sector news and share good practice.
The Latin American edition is managed by Asociación Argentina de Medicina y CuidadosPaliativos (AAMYCP), the Argentina Association of Medicine and Palliative Care. Dr Jorge Eisenchlas, a palliative care physician who is managing the new edition on behalf of AAMYCP, said:
“Palliative care in Latin America has developed heterogeneously, partly due to the unique cultural characteristics and different opportunities available in each country, but also because of a lack of communication in a region with large distances between capital cities and centres of practice. Up until today, there continues to be a lack of systematic connectivity allowing us to know what our neighbours are doing.
“ehospice will fill this gap, improving communication and bringing together personal initiatives into one common place with many voices. ehospice will allow us to share our views, developments and inspiration, and constitutes an unlimited tool for growing and expanding palliative care in the region.”
ehospice is the leading online platform for news and information about hospice and palliative care. It is a globally managed resource available on mobile and desktop websites as well as iPad and iPhone apps. The Latin America edition is the 12th edition and the second non-English language edition; the other is the Canada French edition.
The International Children’s edition of ehospice calls upon all those who work with children in Latin America to contribute regular articles in order to raise the profile of children’s palliative care in this part of the world.
