The deadline for submission of abstracts for the 16th World Congress of the European Association for Palliative Care has been extended to 31 October 2018. The congress will take place in the German city of Berlin from 23 – 25 May 2019.
The congress theme ‘Global Palliative Care – Shaping the Future’ will explore how palliative care fits with the current global health agenda and will provide delegates with the opportunity to explore current trends in palliative care and to discuss, debate and network with colleagues from Europe and beyond.
Exciting programme
The Scientific Committee has put together an interesting and exciting congress programme. Focusing on the conference theme, plenary speakers will present on a range of topics including:
- Early palliative care
- Is palliative care biased?
- The language of dying
- Increasing the value of research in palliative care
- Building palliative care with limited resources and
- Access to palliative care and pain relief
Children’s Palliative Care Seminar
For the first time at an EAPC congress, there will be a Children’s Palliative Care Seminar on Thursday 24 May 2019. Those working, or with an interest in paediatric palliative care are invited to submit abstracts specifically for this part of the programme.
Abstract submissions
A range of diverse topics has been selected for parallel sessions with submitted abstracts as a significant component of the programme. Abstracts can be submitted either as an oral or as a poster presentation. All abstracts must be submitted using the electronic abstract system found here.
The EAPC World Congress provides a unique opportunity to network and meet with colleagues, clinicians, caregivers, researchers, volunteers and educators in palliative care from across the globe to exchange knowledge, to celebrate diversity and richness, make new links, new collaborations and develop projects during the time spent together. More than 3000 participants are expected to attend the congress.
IAHPC Traveling Scholarships
- The IAHPC will be announcing the number of scholarships available shortly.
- The IAHPC gives preference to those individuals who will be presenting a poster and/or an oral presentation.
