The first inter-university diploma in paediatric palliative care will begin in Brussels, Belgium in December 2014.
Organized by Université Catholique de Louvain (Brussels, Belgium) and Université Catholique de Lille (France), the courses include 120 hours of teaching, 5 days integration training and demands a final written essay.
It is opened to physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other professionals. A total of 56 teachers from different universities and hospitals are involved in the pedagogical team, all of whom are enthusiastic to share their expertise.
The present political context in Belgium makes it an matter of urgency that high quality paediatric palliative care be available in order to offer a real choice to families who have a child with a life-limiting condition.
The certificate aims to contribute towards advocating for the needs for those children, by enhancing specific professional competencies in paediatric palliative care.
