Wow! That is the expression that comes to mind when I think about the El Camino trek that Simon and Paul chose to raise funds for Jersey Hospice Care and The International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN). They walked 800 KM of the famous El Camino trail in Northern Spain. In 2020 Paul Turrell & Simon Fanning, two longstanding hospice and charity supporters, walked from John O’Groats to Land’s End and in 2021 walked the return journey, both times raising much needed money for Hospices. On April 26th Paul & Simon set out on the first leg of a challenging 500 mile / 800 kilometre walk from Saint Jean Pied de Port in SW France to Santiago De Compostela in NW Spain, walking the famous El Camino trail.

Mike Palfreman, CEO of Jersey Hospice Care and Chair of ICPCN, joined them for some of the walks, as well as other friends and colleagues. They managed to raise a total of £13,660 reaching 68% of their target and that is incredible! You can check out the donation page HERE and it is not too late to show your support if you want to. They raised the much needed funds for two current charities, Jersey Hospice Care and ICPCN. ICPCN is the only international charity dedicated to improving and extending support for the 21 million children and young people worldwide with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as their families. Jersey Hospice Care is the Island’s only Hospice providing services to people of all ages with life-limiting conditions. Both charities are hugely reliant on voluntary income to do the amazing work they do – every donation from sponsorship will be enormously important.
We appreciate everyone who was involved in the planning, and also the support of joining Simon and Paul on the trail. We would also like to thank everyone who supported this initiative by giving through their generous donations and also for their moral support.
