Villa Indigo provides respite care for seriously sick children in Brussels

Categories: Uncategorized.

Villa Indigo is a unique home in Brussels providing respite for seriously ill children according to the four groups of eligible children, identified in 1997 by Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Opened in 2010 and financed by the Institut National Maladie Invalidité (INAMI) and the Commission Communautaire Commune de Bruxelles Capitale (COCOM), Villa Indigo’s mission is to provide respite care and support to sick children and their families. At any given time up to ten children aged between 0-18 years can be cared for during residential stays of up to 32 days per year.

Their  specialised interdisciplinary team provides children with the 24/7 complex care that they require in a warm and caring environment. In the past five years, Villa Indigo has already welcomed more than 300 children for variable-length stays.

On November 11, 2015, Villa Indigo held its first annual Fundraising Fete which was an enormous success! Funds raised at this event will allow Villa Indigo to build a new wellness area with a swimming pool within the next few years.
