The article argues that wording about substance use disorder and psychoactive substances including opioid medications, should be appropriate and non-stigmatising. 

According to the article authors, using inappropriate terms can create bias and impact negatively on public health policies. 

The authors go on to suggest that the use of appropriate language would increase the chances for rational policies around these substances, and improve the quality of treatment received by patients.
