Founded in 1986 by Prue Dufour, hospice23 aims to inspire all who work in palliative and end of life care through providing residential conferences, study days and retreats.
The available bursaries are specifically to cover the costs (fees, accommodation and travel) of attending hospice23 conferences, which are held annually.
For 2014, the conference, entitled “Caring for ALL in palliative care”, is being held in North Yorkshire between 13 and 16 November. The conference will exploring “how we care for ourselves, our patients and their carers in the current healthcare framework.”
Bursary applicants must clearly demonstrate that attendance will enhance their practice and benefit patients with palliative care needs and/or their carers.
Eligible individuals must be:
- living and working in EU countries outside the UK
- doctors, nurses, social workers, administrative staff, chaplains, bereavement support workers, healthcare assistants, professionals from allied medical services or volunteers.
Eligible costs are:
- conference fees
- travel costs – can include costs to travel to UK and within UK for visits to palliative care providers
- accommodation costs – for the duration of the conference this is covered but, you may need accommodation if you visit other palliative care providers in UK.
