ehospice wrote about the life and work of Cristi Bonea in a previous article. Living with cystic fibrosis and having survived an extremely difficult upbringing, Christi has decided to use his time to raise funds and to help establish a centre in Bucharest that will care for children and young people just like him who suffer from life-limiting conditions.
Cristi is a talented photographer, spending much of his time with the lens focussed on people he has met through his connection with Hospice Casa Sperantei in Bucharest. Through this gallery, Cristi shares some of his photographic work with ehospice readers.
Talking about how he came to be a photographer, Cristi said: “Time is precious, once gone you can never take it back. Through photographs one can capture moments from the time that passed, unforgettable moments and the happiness in peoples’ eyes. Looking at a personal photo after years have gone by, one can relieve the moment caught in the picture.
“I started being a photographer for fun. It started when I made a photo with a pocket camera and noticed a rusty bar ruining it, so I asked the group to move two metres to the right. A photographer heard what I said, took his camera to see what I saw, it was then he noticed that I have a hidden passion and proposed we should be colleagues.”

“Timpul este pretios, niciodata nu te mai intalnesti cu acelasi timp. Prin fotografie iti pot arata exact timpul pe care l-ai petrecut, momentele de neuitat si fericirea de pe chipul tau si a persoanelor dragi. Privind o fotografie personala dupa cativa ani simti ca retraiesti momentul de odinioara.
“M-am apucat de fotografie dintr-o joaca. Faceam o poza cu un aparat foto de buzunar si am mutat grupul vreo 2 metri spre dreapta pentru ca am vazut ca in fotografie apare o bara ruginita. Un fotograf vazand ceea ce spuneam, si-a luat aparatul si a vrut sa vada exact ceea ce vazusem. Atunci si-a dat seama ca am o pasiune ascunsa si mi-a propus sa fim colegi.”
