Categories: In The Media.

ehospice is delighted to announce that the Latin America edition will join the 11 ehospice editions currently bringing readers hospice and palliative care news, views and inspiration from around the world.

The edition will go live on Wednesday 2 April, covering news such as:

  • the recent Latin American Palliative Care Association (ALCP) congress;
  • the inauguration of the new president of the ALCP;
  • palliative care and human rights in Latin America,;and
  • the launch of the National Palliative Care Programme in Uruguay.

The Latin American edition will report on current events from the region and keep readers up to date with hospice, palliative and end of life care news on a global level. It will include features and opinion pieces from leading palliative care practitioners, as well as carrying patient stories. Readers will also be able to submit advertisements for jobs and notices of events.

Articles in both Spanish and in Portuguese will be published on the site, ensuring that people in the Spanish-speaking and Lusophone world can access the services provided by ehospice.

Jorge Eisenchlas, former president of the ALCP and current WPCA board member, will manage the edition, while Bettina Brobowicky will be the editor.

Dr Eisenchlas said: “Palliative care in Latin America has developed heterogeneously, partly due to the unique cultural characteristics and different opportunities available in each country, but also because of a lack of communication in a region with large distances between capital cities and centres of practice. Up until today, there continues to be a lack of systematic connectivity allowing us to know what our neighbours are doing for palliative care.

“ehospice comes to fill this gap, aiming to improve communication and join personal initiatives into one common place with many voices. ehospice, serving as a source for communication of our views, developments and inspiration could constitute an unlimited tool for growing and expanding palliative care in the region.”

The Latin America edition of ehospice will perform an extremely important service. It will connect people working in hospice, palliative and end of life care across the region by offering one place to access news and share examples of good practice.

To submit an article, contact the editor, Bettina Brobowicky.
