The International Neuropalliative Care Society (INPCS) is a global interdisciplinary organization founded in 2021 to promote neuropalliative care worldwide. Neuropalliative care is an emerging field of medicine dedicated to improving the quality of care for people living with neurological disorders and their families using a palliative care framework. The emergence of this field was based on three important observations:
- Persons living with neurological disorders have significant palliative care needs.
- These needs differ in important ways from persons with other medical conditions.
- These needs are insufficiently met under current models of care.
The overarching purpose of the INPCS is to foster the growth of neuropalliative care by building community and driving thought leadership in the field. INPCS activities include building collaborative networks, supporting research, developing educational materials and opportunities, creating guidelines for clinical practice, and advocacy.
INPCS is currently recruiting new members in order to reflect and grow the diversity of our global community.
Benefits of membership include:
- international networking through working groups and collaborative projects,
- professional development through topical panels, webinars, and the INPCS annual conference,
- access to educational resources and best practice advice for clinical care,
- and much more!
We welcome applications from all professionals working in clinical settings (e.g., neuropalliative care, neurology, elder care or geriatrics, rehabilitation medicine), health care trainees, advanced practice providers, allied health professionals, chaplains, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, researchers, and professional advocates. Recognising the critical voices and perspectives of people with personal experiences with neurological conditions in driving best practices for neuropalliative care, the INPCS also welcomes applications from persons living with neurologic illness, along with their family members, care partners, and volunteer advocates. Membership is free for students and individuals who reside in low and middle-income countries.
