Kenya says farewell to Dr Eleanor Foster

Categories: Uncategorized.

Dr Eleanor Foster is a Canadian doctor who has been in volunteering in Kenya since October 2011 to help establish palliative care services at Malindi District Hospital.

In an article by ehospice Kenya, she outlines the challenges faced in establishing a palliative care service in the region – such as lack of government support and beliefs among local people.

Executive Director of the Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association, Dr Zipporah Ali, said that Eleanor’s contribution to palliative care in Kenya will forever be remembered.

“She leaves Malindi with a palliative care presence that will continue her great work. We wish Eleanor all the best as she returns to Canada and hope that she continues her good work in palliative care there as well,” said Dr Ali.
