‘Let’s Bowl Out Cancer’ – fundraising campaign launched in Pakistan

An exhibition match to mark the launch of ‘Let’s Bowl Out Cancer’ will be played between the Stars Eleven and the official cricket team of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre on Monday 4 February 2013 to mark World Cancer Day. 

The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore opened in 1994. Founded by cricketer Imran Khan it has established itself as a centre of excellence providing comprehensive care free of cost to thousands cancer patients.  As a charitable institute, it is funded predominantly from the donations of friends and well-wishers from Pakistan and across the world.

A second Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is planned for Peshawar. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on 9 March, 2011 when the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa announced a grant of 50 million rupees (US$510,000).
