Palliative care an essential part of TB treatment, care and support

World TB Day, falling on March 24th each year, is designed to build public awareness that tuberculosis today remains an epidemic in much of the world, causing the deaths of nearly one-and-a-half million people each year, mostly in developing countries.

In many parts of the world, palliative care is an essential apsect in the treatment and care of people with TB. 

South Africa has one of the highest rates of TB in the world, and battles with Multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB). The South Africa edition of ehospice has published the story of a patient receiving palliative care to support her through diagnosis, treatment and care.
