Philippines: two first-of-a-kind events planned for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day

Categories: Community Engagement.

A Public Forum on Palliative Care, organised by the Philippine Cancer Society, will be held at University of the Philippines College of Medicine on 16 October. APHN Chair, Associate Professor Cynthia Goh, and Family & Palliative Care Medicine Specialist, Dr Agnes Bausa-Claudio, will be the speakers at this event.

Also, on 17-18 October, The Mindano End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium will be holding a conference at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world.

This year, the theme of the day is “Achieving universal coverage of palliative care: Who cares? We do!” And while the day officially falls on 11 October 2014, events and activities will take place either side of this date.

Anybody can get involved in World Hospice and Palliative Care Day and raise awareness and funds for their local hospice and palliative care service. To find out how to get involved, and register your event on the online listing, visit the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day website.
