World Hospice and Palliative Care Day Logo 2024

Categories: Featured and Must Read.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD) 2024 will be on 12 October. The year 2024 marks 10 years since the World Health Assembly (WHO’s Governing Body) passed the only stand-alone resolution on palliative care, calling for all countries to “strengthen palliative care as a component of comprehensive care throughout the life course.” This is what inspired the theme for 2024, Ten Years Since the Resolution: How Are We Doing?

The logo encapsulates the theme accurately. The digit 10 refers to the 10 years past after the WHA passed the resolution. The arrow pointing upward shows the continuous effort, advocacy, changes, and positive outcomes from stakeholder engagements.  We have had some traction heading in the right direction but there is a lot more that needs to be done to achieve our goal of having palliative care fully integrated into healthcare systems across the globe. And of course, the circle represents the world we live in.

We are developing the toolkit. When the final draft is ready, we will launch it together with the graphics to help you plan your campaigns and events. WHPCA plans to host a webinar on 25th June after the launch of the toolkit to help you better understand the theme, sub-themes key messages, and how to be effective in your planned advocacy initiatives for 2024.
