About 70% of cancer deaths occur in low-income and middle-income countries, but good-quality data for cancer incidence and survival are often unavailable. The Lancet welcomes new guidelines for the planning and development of population-based cancer registries in low-income and middle-income countries, produced by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), WHO, and the International Association of Cancer Registries.
