The online programmes will not only be of benefit to those working directly in palliative care, but also more broadly to all health and social care professionals.
The programmes and associated learning resources have been developed by five different hospice education providers with funding and support from AIIHPC.
The programmes can be viewed on the Palliative Hub Learning Platform website at www.palliativelearning.com. The programmes available are:
- Introduction to Palliative Care: Milford Care Centre
- Formal Family Meetings a structured approach to communication within Palliative Care: Marymount University Hospital and Hospice and Milford Care Centre
- Introduction to Palliative Dementia Care: Northern Ireland Hospice
- Care of the Dying of Older Person in the last hours of life: St. Francis Hospice
- Managing Older Peoples’ Pain Using A Palliative Care Approach: Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services.
To access the programmes, learners have to register an account with the Learning Platform site.
AIIHPC Head of Education, Dr Michael Connolly, said the programmes will be very useful for health social care professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of palliative care.
“These are not necessarily aimed at people who specialise in palliative care, but have been designed to have broad appeal. I encourage people to register with the Learning Platform and use these and the many other resources which are included,” he said.
