Funding is primarily for one-off projects, with a duration not longer than one year. The size of grants will range from £500 to £5,000.
All funding decisions are made by the Trustees of the True Colours Trust, who meet twice a year to review applications. Applications and approved grants are administered by the APCA.
APCA have published an outline of the kind of projects which will be given priority and projects for which funding will not be given (attending conferences/courses outside Africa and general work with children and young people which does not adhere to the WHO definition of palliative care).
As multi-year grants will not be made with these funds, the trustees will not also normally fund salary costs. Grants are not made to individuals, but only to registered hospices and/or palliative care providers.
There are detailed instructions on how to apply for a grant on the APCA and KEHPCA websites.
Trustees review applications twice a year in April and October. The deadline for applications this year will be 7 March and 1 September 2014.
Should you require additional support or information while developing the proposals you can contact the Small Grants Officer at APCA by telephone +256 312 264978 or email at: truecolourssmallgrants@africanpalliativecare.org.
