Brits-Hartbeespoort Hospice closes

Brits-Hartbeespoort Hospice announced this week that it will permanently close its doors on 30 November.

“It is with deep regret that we inform the communities of Brits and Hartbeespoort that the Hospice does not have sufficient funds to continue,” said Hospice manager, Lynette Janse van Rensburg.

For the past 20 years, Hospice has served the community by offering quality palliative care to patients in and around the Madibeng area supporting the terminally ill and their families through the difficult end-of-life process. Apart from small Lotto grants, and sales from the charity shop, Hospice has relied heavily on the good-will and donations of individuals and companies in the area.

“With the current economic decline, accelerated by the Covid-19 crisis, funding has dwindled to the point that there is no option but to cease operations. Hospice would like to express their gratitude to each company and individual that has made it possible over the years to enable them to render a valuable service to the community.”
