Which session’s did you attend, that appealed to you?
This was my first HPCA conference. I found the plenary sessions most beneficial, they were all very fruitful. I received a lot of information on how to handle CaSipo being implemented by government.
Highlights of the conference?
Dr Anne Merriman definitely stood out for me. She made me embrace and change my attitude to hospice, reminding us of our values. Jim Cleary also brought clarity about drug use, more especially policymaking regarding drugs. Allan Barnard’s plenary about training was also important to me because I am in charge of learning for my department.
Things you will be taking back with you and applying at your organisation?
I will be taking back the information for Alan Barnard, Anne Merriman and Andre Wagner’s plenaries. This was definitely a learning experience, it was a first among people in the palliative care industry, and it’s been a great eye opener.
