HospiceWits superwoman!

Categories: Care and People & Places.

If you doubted there were real live Superwomen in existence, we can assure you there’s one at HospiceWits! Sister Judith Young has been working as a Home Care Nursing Sister at HospiceWits for 28 years.  During that time she has brought Palliative care, comfort, compassion, meaningful advice and an improved quality of life to innumerable individuals and families in Johannesburg.

Judith has cycled in our annual Cyclethon spinning event for the past five years – for the full six-hour duration!  Very few fitness instructors can keep up the strenuous activity for that length of time.  What makes Judith Young the Superwoman she is, is the fact that she was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2013; has had two major operations since then, and on top of all that, she has also recently been diagnosed with lung cancer.

This tenacious lady, despite taking oral chemotherapy medication, still works out at the gym, and continues to work full-time at HospiceWits taking care of others with life-threatening illnesses and their families.  We are asking you to give this amazing woman your support.  By sponsoring Judith you are also enabling HospiceWits to care for other patients with life-threatening illnesses.

PLEASE SPONSOR JUDITH IN THIS YEAR’S CYCLETHON TO BE HELD ON 30 SEPTEMBER 2018 AT MELROSE ARCH, FROM 08H00 – 14H00.  ALL FUNDS RAISED WILL GO TOWARDS THE CARE SERVICES WE PROVIDE FOR PATIENTS THEIR FAMILIES IN OUR CARE IN JOHANNESBURG AND SOWETO.
