Media Launch: Butterfly Box

Categories: In The Media.

The Butterfly Box will change the way South Africans perceive charity shops. Stocked with only designer and top quality male and female clothing and accessories, it will become a favoured shopping destination for unique and designer items at budget prices. The first Butterfly Box will be launched on Saturday 10 October, World Hospice Palliative Care Day, at The Threads Project, 349 Albert Road in Woodstock. The Threads Project is a concept store that not only showcases designer home-wear and fashion of up-and-coming designers and crafters, but also shares the ethos of collaboration and community support.

The HPCA (Hospice and Palliative Care Association) in collaboration with The Lonely Road Foundation will launch this pilot fashion collection of new and previously loved clothing. United in showing care and compassion, these organisations have signed a MOU to collaborate and strengthen resources in their ongoing quest to create self-sustainability.  The Lonely Road Foundation, founded by Thabang Skwambane, with its focus on solutions that are community-driven rather than donation dependent make them the perfect partner.

After signing St Luke’s Hospice as her first client 21 years ago, Jenny Handley, owner of Jenny Handley Performance, still supports Hospice by working with the HPCA advocacy team in building their brand and maintaining their place as one of the top five NGOs in the country in terms of awareness (as reported by the TNS national research survey of 2013). “One of the biggest challenges facing palliative care worldwide, after funding, is changing mindsets.” says Dr Liz Gwyther, CEO of the HPCA and chair of the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance.

About HPCA South Africa: The Hospice Palliative Care Association (HPCA) of South Africa is an association that was founded in 1987 as a membership organisation for South African hospices. It was created in response to a need expressed by hospices to share best practices and to support the development of a hospice movement in South Africa that provides effective, supportive care to communities in need. The vision of the association is to provide “quality palliative care for all.”

·      Publicising the store’s opening and spreading the word to your friends, family, readers and audiences.

·      Collecting, transporting or storing stock.

·      Being a drop-off point (home, office or retail store).

·      Sponsoring donation boxes with your company’s logo printed on them.

·      Sponsor rails, shopping bags, hangers, tags etc.

·      Come and show your support on 10 October at the Butterfly Box!
