St Bernards Hospice in East London have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to establish a coffee-shop on their premises in the name of Betty Bennet, who founded their hospices 30 years ago.
The campaign was launched on 9 October, World Hospice Palliative Care Day with a Spring Market in partnership with local radio station LinkFM. The station conducted a live broadcast from the hospice on the day and listeners were invited to listeners were invited to call in and buy a song for R250 during the Top 40 Show. Together they successfully reached their target of raising R22,000 and additional funds are being raised online too.
