This session is suitable for professionals who are new to working with bereaved children and young people as part of their role in health, education, pastoral support, youth work and social care.
This course is designed to build confidence, skills and knowledge by exploring grief theory, the challenges presented and creative ways in which to support children and young people who are bereaved.
Learning Outcomes:
- An understanding of the current models and theories related to bereavement and developmental theory
- Insight into how a child’s age and development influences their understanding of death and their reaction to it
- Development of practical skills in working creatively to help bereaved children and young people
- Awareness of the tools, resources and services available to support children and young people who are bereaved
