Did you see us on Channel 4 News this week? We wish we had welcomed the crew under better circumstances, but to be able to shine a light on the difficulties we and other hospices are facing was so very important.
The news story, which aired on Monday 27th January, shows footage taken earlier this month when the crew spent a whole day with us. Reporter Andrew Misra said that the people he met and interactions he saw ‘will stay with him for a long time’.

Whilst the Govenment has pledged support for Hospices, the details of how this funding will be distributed are yet to be disclosed.
Paul Marriott, St Cuthbert’s Chief Executive shared: “We are grateful for the support the Government has pledged. However, the £100m that was announced in December 20224 was for all hospices and can only be used for buildings and equipment improvements. To avoid redundancies we needed funding for salaries and running costs. We have asked the Government to apply maximum flexibility in the way this money can be spent, but we don’t yet know what their response will be.”
Thank you so much for supporting St Cuthbert’s while we navigate this difficult time. We’re grateful to all who have shared our news, donated, signed up to our lottery or visited one of our shops or our coffee shop at the Hospice.
