Alessia Russo donates Football Shirt & Boots for ‘Art of Kent Auction’

Categories: Fundraising.

Following the success of the last ‘Art of Kent Auction’ in 2022, Heart of Kent Hospice has announced that the next online ‘Art of Kent Auction’ will take place between 12 and 14 March 2024.

Some amazing pieces of artwork will be auctioned including signed Football Boots and an England Shirt gifted by England Footballer Alessia Russo.  The hospice is hoping the signed match-worn England shirt will again be a winner as Alessia Russo’s shirt from the World Cup qualifying game on 6 September against Luxembourg in which they won 10-0 was auctioned at the last Art of Kent Auction and sold for an incredible £9500.

Carol Russo, who works as a Healthcare Assistant at Heart of Kent Hospice, and Alessia’s mum said: “It’s wonderful that Alessia is helping to raise money for the Hospice. The support and comfort we provide to the families we care for means so much to them, and they are all incredibly brave. We treat everyone like they are part of our family here at the Hospice. I have even convinced my colleagues to watch and support women’s football. We are all very proud of Alessia.”

There are some incredible pieces of artwork being auctioned and every piece of artwork has been kindly donated by both amateur and professional Kent artists including Charlotte Coe.

Taking place online between Tuesday 12 March and Thursday 14 March 2024 ‘Art of Kent Auction’ will feature everything from textiles to paintings, ceramics and sculpture.

All the lots will be available to bid for online and the highest bidder will become the proud owner of their very own piece of unique artwork or memorabilia.

All the money raised from this event will go towards continuing to provide care and support to those under the Hospice care whether they are receiving care in the inpatient ward, at home or attending the flexible drop-in sessions at the hospice hub where patients and carers can socialise, speak to members of the drop-in team, and attend optional supportive sessions.

Chief Executive of Heart of Kent Hospice, Rachel Street said: “We are enormously grateful to all of our new and returning artists that have donated fabulous pieces of art all contributing to a diverse auction collection. In 2022 this wonderful event raised over £21,500 for our Hospice and we’d love to exceed this target!”

If you’re interested in securing a piece of Kentish art, simply register your interest in advance and you will receive an exclusive preview of all the auction lots on, before the auction goes live to the public the following evening. You’ll need to be over 18 years of age to register.

About Heart of Kent Hospice

www.hokh.org

Heart of Kent Hospice has been providing free, compassionate, end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in Maidstone, Aylesford, Tonbridge and Malling and the surrounding towns and villages for the past 33 years.

The Hospice has built an excellent reputation within the local community for the quality of its care, which has been further endorsed by the Care Quality Commission who awarded us with an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ following an inspection in February 2017.

Our vision is for everyone living with a terminal illness in our community to achieve the best quality of life. We are committed to achieving this by enabling them to live in comfort, with independence and dignity to the end of their lives, and to support those closest to them.

Last year the Hospice cared for over 1,800 patients and their families in their own homes or at our Aylesford-based Hospice. Our charity needs to raise £6 million to deliver all the Hospices services, and we depend heavily on our loyal community of supporters, whose generous donations and fundraising activities raise money for us every year.
