About William Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost
“Love is familiar. Love is a devil.”
The King and three friends take an oath dedicating themselves to a life of study, avoiding the company of women for three years.
No sooner have they made their vow the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive, presenting the men with a severe test of their high-minded resolve.
Widely believed to be the prequel to Much Ado about Nothing, this early Shakespeare promises luscious costumes and a few surprises, including an original music collaboration with Kent arts festival, Jam on the Marsh.
Four boys and four girls in a game of love – this is Shakespeare does Bridgerton. If you loved the Netflix series, then this show is perfect for you!
About Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The School for Scandal
“Smile at the jest which plants a thorn in another’s breast”
Lady Sneerwell is in love with Charles who’s in love with Maria. Joseph is in love with Maria who’s in love with Charles. Clearly, all is not peachy on the romantic front.
Would-be suitors Lady Sneerwell and Joseph devise a plot to ruin Charles and Maria’s relationship through gossip and lies. Creating a scandal of epic proportions.
Sheridan’s meticulously crafted play is a razor sharp, highly entertaining satirical comedy. In the age of fake news this is the play to see. It will have you in stitches from beginning to end!
There is no seating, so bring a picnic blanket and/or fold up chairs. Don’t forget to bring your picnic baskets full of delicious food, wine or champagne to enjoy. Note: hot and cold drinks, along with wine and bubbles, will also be available to purchase. It’s also worth remembering that it is likely to become cooler once the sun goes down so bring warm clothes and a blanket.
Allington Castle, ME16 0NB. There will be event parking within the grounds of the castle.
