Are you ready for Dying Matters Week?

Categories: Community Engagement.

Resources include a leaflet, which sets out the five things that everyone should do to prepare for the end of life, and a poster to help advertise local events. These can be downloaded for free, or ordered through the Dying Matters online shop

Final tweets

During the week, Dying Matters is encouraging people to submit their ‘final tweet‘ – what you would say if you were to communicate one last time?

Contributions can be sent in by tweet, email or post and should be no more than 128 characters long, including spaces.

If using Twitter, add hashtag #FinalTweets to your ‘final words’ so your tweet can be easily identified.

Email submissions should be sent to s.stone@ncpc.org.uk with the subject line ‘Final tweets’, and for post, please send to Sarah Stone, Final Tweet, Dying Matters Coalition, The Fitzpatrick Building, 188-194 York Way, London, N7 9AS.

Final tweets should be submitted before the end of the awareness week (19 May 2013).

Be ready

The theme of the week is ‘Be ready for it’, which is being used to encourage people to take five actions to be ready for the end of life by:

  • making a Will
  • recording their funeral wishes
  • thinking about what care and support they would want
  • registering as an organ donor
  • discussing wishes with loved ones.

Dying Matters is encouraging people to tweet during the week, using the hashtag #BeReady.

You can see what’s going on near you by visiting the events calendar – and if you’re holding an event during Awareness Week, you can submit your event online, or email info@dyingmatters.org with details.
