We are one of the UK’s largest hospices providing a range of specialist palliative care for people living with or affected by life-limiting illnesses. As a charity, our services are available free of charge to people over the age of 16 from across the Greater Manchester area. Our annual running costs are over £9 million per year, approximately two-thirds of which needs to be raised from voluntary contributions.
We require an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious individual to join our busy Catering team and support our Head cook in the day to day running of the catering department.
We require the Assistant Cook to help plan and prepare patient and staff menus and meals with the Head cook discussing any dietary needs and ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained.
You will need to be an enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach and possess good communication skills, be numerate and literate and be of a friendly, caring and approachable nature. Experience of working in a similar role is essential. The possession of NVQ level 1 & 2 in Food Preparation and Basic Food Hygiene Certificates or equivalent would also be an advantage.
Supervisory skills are a must, as you will supervise a team of Catering Assistants.
