Bolton Hospice is thrilled to announce that one of their charity shops has been awarded best in the North-West by the Charity Retail Association in the ‘UK’s favourite charity shop’ awards.
The charity shop awards celebrate the invaluable contributions made by charity shops across the UK. Bolton Hospice’s nomination is a direct result of the positive feedback and support it has received from the local community.
To help Bolton Hospice clinch the title, the public was encouraged to cast their votes online.
This incredible achievement was celebrated in style on Tuesday 22nd October when volunteers and staff were presented with the prestigious award at a special celebration event.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton were in attendance along with the Chair of the Charity Retail Association Emma Peake, and the Chief Executive of Bolton Hospice, Dr (h.c) Leigh Vallance.
Guests were given a tour of the charity shop, time to browse the rails and pick up some bargains, and guests and volunteers were invited to the awards ceremony at the Old Bank Café which included tasting a selection of their fantastic refreshments and cakes.
CEO of Bolton Hospice, Dr (h.c) Leigh Vallance thanked the volunteers for their passion and dedication, and Chair of the Charity Retail Association, Emma Peake, presented the award to shop manager Amanda Kendall, revealing that the Bolton Hospice shop triumphed over 1100 entries in the North West, a fantastic achievement!
Amanda said, “We’re incredibly grateful and proud of our fantastic team of volunteers whose hard work and dedication make our charity shop a warm and welcoming community space.
Our volunteers consistently go above and beyond to ensure our shop is a success and this award is a testament to the fantastic team we have around us. We couldn’t do it without their help, so a huge thank you to every single volunteer who kindly volunteers their time.
Their commitment and dedication enable us to generate vital funds so that Bolton Hospice can continue to provide specialist care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses.”
The award-winning charity shop, on Hillview Road in Astley Bridge, sells a range of pre-loved items, from women’s and menswear to bric-a-brac, toys and games, and books.
The Astley Bridge site is also home to the hospice’s popular Old Bank Café, which serves a range of tasty breakfasts, lunches and sweet treats and has a real community feel.
It’s the perfect place to have a brew, a spot of lunch and browse the rails next door. The charity shop is full of big brands at bargain prices, and every single purchase directly helps Bolton Hospice to raise funds to provide vital care and support.
The overall winner of the ‘UK’s favourite charity shop’ will be announced at a special event in November. Watch this space!
