Since the building work begun on 28 February 2022 when St Catherine’s Hospice in West Sussex & East Surrey broke ground at the site of their new hospice in Woodgate, Pease Pottage the project has continued to progress at a pace, and they are well on track to welcome the first patients to their new home in late Autumn.
Paul Rycroft, our New Build Delivery Director, explains:
“We are delighted that works have progressed on schedule, and it’s been incredible to see how the structure has evolved over the last 12 months from a dirt plot, to what we see today – the complete shell of a hospice building.”
It is thanks to the hard work of Barnes Construction, and so many other project teams and contractors, as well as the generosity of our community, that the dream of a new state of the art hospice is being realised.
The video below reveals just how far they have come in one year.
“The year that lies ahead is an exciting one and we continue to work hard to ensure the transition to our new home is as smooth as possible for our community and those that we care for, as well as for our staff and volunteers.
Our new hospice will provide us with the space to develop essential services and respond to the increasing need for end of life care for terminally ill people and their families across West Sussex and East Surrey. We will be able to provide care to 250 additional outpatients and 110 extra inpatients each year. “
