Charity of the Year partnership will raise vital funds for hospice

St Clare Hospice in Essex has been named Charity of the Year for 2019 by local businesses.

Five organisations in the hospice’s catchment area selected the charity as their fundraising partner for 2019, and they will raise money for the hospice throughout the 12-month period in any way they choose.

Partnerships with local organisations are a vital source of income for St Clare. Last year’s Charity of the Year programme generated approximately £30,000, and local Co-op branches, who have chosen the hospice as their Charity of the Year since 2017, have raised more than £19,000 in that time by donating 1 per cent of the profits from all Co-op own-brand product sales when they were purchased using a membership card.

The businesses joining St Clare as community partners this year are two branches of Sainsbury’s, the mayors of Loughton and Dunmow, and a local care home.

St Clare Hospice’s Community Fundraising Lead, Dani De’ath, commented:

“We are humbled by the support we receive from local organisations throughout the hospice’s catchment area. Every year, these generous local businesses and town councils raise thousands of pounds in vital funding for us, so that we can continue to offer our compassionate care, free of charge, to those who need us in their local communities.

“We’d like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has chosen us as their Charity of the Year – together, with their support, we are making a difference to local people who are facing one of life’s most difficult journeys.”
